Job Summary
We are seeking a Junior Backend Developer with 2 years of experience to join our dynamic team in Kampala. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with Node.js, MySQL, and Express.js, coupled with strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
Key Responsibilities
1. API Development and Maintenance
Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient RESTful APIs.
Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure seamless integration of APIs.
2. Database Design and Management
Design, optimize, and maintain relational databases (MySQL).
Write efficient SQL queries and ensure data integrity.
3. Code Quality and Testing
Write clean, maintainable, and reusable code.
Implement and maintain unit tests to ensure code reliability.
4. Troubleshooting and Debugging
Identify and resolve backend issues, bugs, and bottlenecks.
Optimize server performance and ensure application reliability.
5. Collaboration and Growth
Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand and implement business requirements.
Stay updated with emerging backend technologies and best practices
Qualifications and Skills
Core Technologies: Proficiency in Node.js, Express.js, and MySQL.\
Database Management: Strong knowledge of SQL and relational database design.
Development Skills: Basic understanding of version control systems like Git.
Problem-Solving: Ability to debug complex issues and provide efficient solutions.
Soft Skills: Effective communication and a team-oriented mindset.
Added Advantage:
Experience with frameworks like Adonis.js.
Familiarity with deploying applications on cloud platforms such as Heroku.
Knowledge of unit testing frameworks like Mocha or Jest.
Experience with RESTful API documentation tools such as Postman or Swagger.
