GENERAL FUNCTION
Internews seeks a Senior Programme Associate (SPA) for the Advancing Global Innovation and Learning Effectively to Build Resilience in Independent Media (AGILE) Project funded by the European Union. AGILE supports and empowers civil society to protect and promote democracy, human rights, and fundamental freedoms worldwide by protecting independent media and will advance the global response to increasing the resilience of at-risk independent media. Under the supervision of the Project Director, the SPA will provide an array of technical, operational, and administrative support to day-to-day implementation of this global project.
LOGISTICS
This is a remote-based role. Our preferred candidate should be based in the country where Internews has its offices. Internews currently has offices in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and North America. This is a limited-duration position, with an expected end date of 30 August 2028.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, with other duties upon request.
- Work closely with the Project Director on the day-to-day implementation of the AGILE project, coordination of activities and events, and collaboration with and management of consortium partners.
- Support completion of project deliverables and expected results, and support Internews’ monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning (MERL) teams to create key program indicators and document results and impact.
- Prepare reports and updates for the donor.
- Support preparation of consortium workplans, communications documents, and internal and external reports/presentations on the AGILE portfolio of globally distributed activities.
- Coordinate with stakeholders and partners to set up and hold virtual and in-person meetings, convenings, and other activities related to the project.
- Support and manage all aspects of training delivery, including agenda-creation, participant and event logistics, and reporting.
- Provide administrative and logistical support for local and international events, trips, convenings, and other project-related activities.
- Coordinate with finance and administration staff (both at the country and regional levels) to ensure effective financial and administrative management of all project activities.
- Support the project team to prepare sub-grant packages, monitor sub-awards, and perform other essential compliance-related sub-grant tasks.
- Perform other relevant project-related and programming duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

- At least 5 years of professional experience doing non-profit and/or media development and support work.
- Deep understanding of the media sector in one of the target regions (Africa, Asia, and Americas), as well as specific knowledge of the technical challenges facing media outlets and journalists in these regions, as well as globally.
- Experience working with a remote team.
- At least 2 years of professional experience in organizing events, training, meetings, and other activities involving different stakeholders and partners.
- Fluency in English is essential, including strong writing skills at a publishable standard.
- Sensitivity to cross-cultural dynamics in the workplace and experience providing technical support to a cross-section of staff and local partners.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and information management skills.
- Must be self-reliant, resourceful, good problem-solver, good-humored, and flexible.
- Ability to work independently, efficiently and reliably, to a high standard and to deadline.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team across the globe.
